The one-man-band project of Adam Pierce, Mice Parade's The True Meaning of Boodleybaye
is a winsome piece of jagged D.I.Y. indie pop. Though the heavy drum
kit and overall recording approaches the lowest of the lo-fi, Pierce
floats a series of precious melodies over the top on tracks like "A
Dance by Any Other Name" and "My Workday in May." The impression is
oddly similar to what an emo band might sound like if they tried to do
their own version of electronica: halfway between Add N to X and Sunny Day Real Estate.
